Memorial Day Yoga Jam Dance
with Alison Sinatra & Melissa officinalis

Sunday, May 26
4- 6 PM
at the Woodstock Outpost

As the world continues to be upside down and inside out, we must remember to keep moving our bodies, emotions and maintain a healthy mind.

This class led by Alison Sinatra and Melissa officinalis is curated for just that. In order to have balance on this majestic planet and with all of the suffering happening-we need to also celebrate life.

Class will consist of 1 hour of yoga and 1 hour of ecstatic dance. Yoga will have somatic movement, alignment based asana and strong focus on our connection to the breath. Ecstatic dance is a freeform expressive dance practice held in a judgement-free container, as a musical dance journey that increases with energy to a peak, and comes back down to a meditative pace, with beats from around the world. Class will close with a savasana featuring live sound healing instruments.

Alison Sinatra has been teaching people to connect with their body for over 25 years. She is a medicine woman, who integrates her yogic studies with her knowledge of North and South American indigenous healing.  Alison just completed a year long somatic training with Gabor Mate called "compassionate inquiry" for trauma and addiction.  Alison lives in the Catskills with her hubby and two beautiful children.

Melissa officinalis has been facilitating Ecstatic Dance since 2019, when she first started Quiet Hours Silent Disco with friends in upstate NY. She has spent many years dancing at Ecstatic Dances around the world, and collaborating with dance communities hosting Ecstatic Dance Silent Discos around the country. Weaving beats from around the world, her sets are a heart opening journey, closing with live sound healing instruments.  Her name Melissa officinalis comes from the botanical name for Lemon Balm, connecting to her passional for herbalism and the magic in dancing outside in nature.
